14 August 2017

Macquarie bank has evolved its credit card rewards program to include eGift cards and API technology.

Macquarie Platinum Card and Macquarie Black Card customers, with the evolution of the reward program now have the ability to browse, redeem and receive digital eGift cards directly within the Macquarie mobile banking app and website.

Macquarie Rewards offers eGift cards from a range of more than 25 popular retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Myer, iTunes, Hoyts and Woolworths.

These eGift cards can be redeemed using Macquarie Points then when you wish to use the eGift card in store you can access it via your Macquarie app and scan the barcode to make a purchase.

Previously you could redeem your Macquarie Rewards for flight rewards, merchandise from the Macquarie Rewards store and MyCurrency, which allowed you to use your points to cover purchases over $1,000.

Macquarie says it has introduced eGift cards as a response to customer feedback and to provide cardholders with more flexibility when redeeming their reward points. Macquarie’s head of personal banking Ben Perham says that the revamp also aims to simplify how cardholders manage their rewards and finances by housing them both in one place.

“The program allows customers to redeem eGift cards in their account online and through the Macquarie Mobile Banking app, so they can enjoy their rewards and manage their credit card account and rewards program all in one place,” said Perham.

Perham also said that Macquarie Rewards is the latest of the bank’s digital offerings that leverages Application Programming Interface (API) technology to transform the consumer experience with more personalised solutions.
