ING Direct launch Orange One credit card

Back in 2015 ING Direct announced they working on developing a credit card and today the new Orange One Credit Card from ING has been launched. To ING Direct current customers, with a release to the public planned for later in the year.

ING Direct are using the catch phrase “nothing like the others’ One” to advertise the new card which comes with no annual fee and low purchase and cash advance rate of 14.99% p.a.

The new card includes some innovative features including an instalment plan at a lower rate of 9.99% that enables cardholders to repay purchases or a group of purchases with equal monthly instalments over a fixed term, as you would with a personal loan.

For those looking for a more feature rich card ING Direct is offering the option to upgrade to an Orange One Platinum Credit Card, by applying and gaining approval for a $6,000 credit limit.

The Platinum card comes with complimentary travel insurance, and for an optional $199 annual fee, you can opt-in to a rewards program that offers 1% cash back on spends of up to $30 per month.

As we reported earlier this month the new card includes a high minimum repayment threshold, to help cardholders control their debt. The minimum monthly repayment on the Orange One Credit Card is set at $100 or 10% of the cards balance, which positions it as the card with the highest minimum payment in the market.

This initiative by ING is based on the hope that higher minimum repayments will help cardholders pay off their balances faster and avoid debt traps.

The card includes:

  • Up to 45 days interest free on purchases,
  • Australian ATM fee rebate for cash advance - 100% of the ATM fee. When you either have an ING DIRECT home loan or if you deposit $1000+ from an external account to a personal ING DIRECT account in your name (exluding Living Super and Orange One) by the last day of the preceding calendar month.
  • Orange One is currently only available to ING DIRECT customers that hold an Orange Everyday and have been with us for 3 months or more, having deposited salary of $1,000 or more per month into their personal account (excluding Super).
  • Apple Pay is compatible with the card
